Who wore it better??!! Carla Bruni Sarkozy, former model and wife of French Prime Minister, paid a visit to London wearing what many columnists referred to as her "Jackie" suit, complete with pillbox hat. Years earlier, First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy stepped off the plane in Paris wearing a sunny yellow suit and her trademark pillbox.
Both women received rave reviews for their style--but who do you think wore this look better? And do you think Mme. Sarkozy was deliberately trying to imitate Jackie--not in a bad way but more of an homage?

Well, she chose a great color while Mme. Sarkozy, while beautiful, was in a rather bland grey and black palette.
So to my second question? Was Carla using Jackie's look as a role model for her own? Again, nothing wrong with that but perhaps she saw what a success it had been or was paying a homage....
I think it's a reminder of Jackie's enduring style and the interest so many women take in her still....
I have to say Jackie because her look was the original. Carla looks great but it's an imitation nonetheless.
I have no doubt Carla is channeling Jackie here, if not then the designer certainly was. I wonder if the french still have a fascination with her like we do here in the states!
Carla can try all she wants I don't think it's working. It's not original and it's not her. She is trying too hard and Jackie always looked effortless....(and timeless)
I'm not a Carla fan or something like that but I think Carla looks good in that outfit + I think that their outfits (except for the hat) are not comparable. Different fabric, different colour, different cut. The only thing that their outfits really have in common is that they're elegant. But that is what you expect of a first lady, right? There are not so much choices for presidents wifes when it comes to outfits. They have to be elegant and decent. And Carla just tries to adjust to her role fashionwise. And for the pillbox hat, I think this was on purpose. Why should Carla be different from people like us who see some bag, coat, shoes or whatever worn by someone else (mostly a famous person) and want to wear the same item? I think she just liked Jackie's way to dress and got herself some inspiration from Jackie. And I think too that Carla wants to be a first lady like Jackie, loved, respected, an icon. Nothing wrong with that if you ask me. (Aren't there some of us too(including myself) who want to be or look like someone else, CBK for example? :-)) I think people should see it as a compliment for Jackie.
I agree with Jessika's opinion. Both are beautiful women and look good in their clothes, cannot favor one over the other.
